Nicki Minaj and Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex have serious beef!

Hot 97’s DJ Funkmaster Flex didn’t make good on his promise to “ruin a career” after Nicki Minaj‘s Summer Jam no-show. Instead, the radio personality talked to the rapper (like grown-ups do). Judging from comments Minaj made to a rival station today, the conversation did little to clear the air.

The Buzz – Nicki Minaj and Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex Have Some Serious Beef!
Funkmaster Flex warned that he was going to ruin someone’s career, aka Nicki Minaj, but instead he just ended up bickering with her live on the radio after she was a no-show for the stations concert, Summer Jam.

After talking to DJ Funkmaster Flex for more than an hour to explain her reasons for pulling out of the station’s Summer Jam, Nicki Minaj took to the mic again to express her displeasure with NYC’s Hot 97.

The Queens rapper told rival station Power 105.1 today that comments made before her scheduled appearance by Flex’s colleague, Peter Rosenberg, were “in bad taste.”

Before a festival performance on Sunday, Rosenberg slammed the singer’s song, “Starships,” telling concert-goers: “I know there’s some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later. I’m not talking to y’all right now … F*** that bull****. I’m here to talk about real hip-hop s***.”

Lil Wayne, who heads up Minaj’s Young Money Entertainment label, caught wind of the comment. He took to Twitter, saying none of his artists would be performing at the annual concert series.

Minaj let her own S-bombs fly this a.m.

“I don’t gotta show anyone s***… I’m going to show you by what I don’t do,” Minaj said, when asked about “why” she backed out of the scheduled headliner. “What I don’t do is perform in a place that people don’t respect me.”

Flex isn’t budging, either. He told Minaj he stands by Rosenberg, saying, “It is his opinion and what hip-hop is built on is opinion.”

The artist’s response: Don’t like me? Don’t book me.

Flex had this much to say about his talk with Minaj which, at best, sounds like a half-hearted resolution: “Me and this girl been on the phone arguing for an hour,” he said before playing the interview with Minaj in its entirety, as she requested. “I’m trying to figure out if we’re better. We are.”
