In wellness circles, meditation and mindfulness are old reliable methods for giving a bit more love to your mental health.
Generally, mindfulness and other meditation practices are recommended if you’re overwhelmed, anxious or depressed or need to regulate your emotions or anxiety — not as a replacement for mental health care but as a great way to incorporate some intentional self-care time into even your most busy or stressful day.
All of us can use a bit of time to center, to breathe a little deeper or wind down (this goes for parents and kids alike) and sometimes it can be hard to make the time (or make yourself believe you deserve to make the time) for yourself to get in touch with your mind and body. Even some of the busiest celebrities in the world have found that slowing down their fast-paced lives and taking this free, easy time has greatly improved their mental health and approach to self-care.
Read on for some of our favorite celebrities who have found comfort in meditation — and maybe see if their practice is one that might help you out.

Jenna Dewan
Dewan is totally open about sharing her meditation practice with her fans — in her book and via Instagram. The actress and dancer previously said in her book Gracefully You that she’s built out a comfortable space in her house for her meditation and spiritual practices.
“I have a small area in my bedroom by the window where I keep a small, low table—some might call it an altar—and a fold-up meditation chair I got on Amazon for under fifty dollars,” she said. “I use this space daily as a place to set my intentions, meditate, say a mantra, or pull an angel card. I also create this space and time for myself to manifest New Year’s wishes (I prefer the word wishes to resolutions). I go here to make vision boards, daydream and imagine.
Kelly Rowland
Kelly Rowland has said that her road to embracing meditation was a slow and gradual one — and that first she had to check some misconceptions she had about the practice.
“I was very, very slow to meditation. Now I don’t want a day to go by without meditating,” Rowland said in a video on Twitter. “I grew up in Church, and meditating always sounded like it was attached to another religion or a higher power. When I finally sat down with my meditation coach and she spoke to me about it, I was like ‘Oh, I get it.’ It’s not about anything else but self awareness and actually calming your mind down,” she said.
Megan Fox
The actress and mama to three has shared a glimpse or two at her meditation practice over the years via social and interviews.
“I also meditate. I took classes and have gotten pretty good at it,” she told the Belfast Telegraph in an interview about how the practice plays into her fitness routine. “I can stay under and focus for 30 minutes.”
Harry Styles
Former Boybander Harry Styles has shared how special his meditation practice is and has even gone as far as to collaborate with meditation app Calm by lending his voice to a soothing sleep story.
“Sleep and meditation are a huge part of my routine, whether I’m at home, in the studio, or out on the road,” Styles said in a statement about the collab. “Rest and recovery is as important as doing the work. Finding a balance has been endlessly beneficial to both my physical and mental health. It’s changed my life.”
Connie Britton
Along with being known for the most incredible hair in Hollywood, Connie Britton is an outspoken supporter of taking care of your mind with some daily meditation — embracing the practice for more than two decades.
“[Meditating] is something that I’ve found to be really effective for so many different things, but certainly for my health, stress levels, mental clarity, and general well-being,” Britton told SELF in 2017. “A lot of times I think that young women think that [meditating] is not something to worry about, but if you start taking care of yourself at a young age, you’ll feel the effects of it as you get older,”
Jessica Alba
Alba has opened up about how she uses meditation to cope with anxiety and stress.
“I like to listen to meditations,” she told Byrdie. “I did TM [Transcendental Meditation] but I find it’s kind of tough to meditate on your own—for me—so I like Headspace. And you can do five-minute meditations, 10-minute mediations … and you can go to whatever it is you’re dealing with. It’s pretty dope.”
Katy Perry
Perry has shared how meditation has helped her protect her mind in her high-stress and fast-paced life over the years — particularly finding that Transcendental Meditation helped her through her anxiety.
“I have always […] had a lot on my plate and I noticed before I was meditating I started to short circuit,” Perry told Newsweek.”I knew that I had to take care of my mental health and my mind, which is the greatest asset in my body besides my heart. I knew I had to protect it. The stillness that I’ve found is beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. It’s way different than napping. Everybody’s just like ‘I’ll nap for two hours.’ This is totally different from napping. Napping is to brushing your teeth as flossing is to meditation. A lot of people brush their teeth but still have very interesting breath. So you gotta get the plaque out.”
LeAnn Rimes
LeAnn Rimes released a whole album dedicated to her spiritual journey in 2020, so no doubt she’s found so much comfort in her mediation and breathwork practice.
Rimes even joined our friends at BlogHer Health in early 2020 to give a glimpse at some breathwork and an a’capella chant and explained how the practice transformed her physical and spiritual health: “My nervous system was always on stun, fight or flight. Breathwork brought me back,” Rimes said. “We need to welcome a softness and tenderness to our own hearts. As women, we forget we possess this beautiful piece that’s so accessible, just taking a moment to be.”
