Shoes. So pretty on your footsies. So cluttery when they’re piled near the door, kicked off under the table or tumbling out of the coat closet. Need a stylish solution? We have a few.
Go bench or go… another route
This bench with microfiber pad is the perfect spot to sit down and kick your shoes off after a long day. The pole-style shelves will give your boots a better chance to drip and dry out, and the two shelves are the perfect amount of storage for your ever-growing family (Amazon, $63).
Everything about this iron bench with shoe rack screams style. We love the look. With only one shoe shelf, though, it may not be helpful for a family with more than one kid (Pottery Barn, $130).
This wooden bench with baskets might be the ultimate champion of bench storage. It offer cubes for two pairs of flats, flip-flops or sneakers. (Bulkier shoes might require one shoe in each hole.) And it comes with three shallow baskets that are perfect for socks, more flip-flops, shoe polish or just Fido’s leash collection (Amazon, $198).
Pick a cabinet, any cabinet
Sometimes you don’t so much need a quick solution between chore day as you need a logical, more permanent home for your shoes. This slimline shoe dresser is one option. It’s narrow enough that it doesn’t need a massive chunk of wall space and shallow enough not to obstruct the flow of traffic (Euro Style Lighting, $158).
For a cheap, expandable option, this stackable storage unit is the way to go. On its own, it can also function as a low shelf on the floor of your closet. Stack two or three on top of each other and you’re looking at an excellent surface to stow baskets of socks or pantyhose (Cozy days, $70).
Need something to fit your more traditional home? A super fancy cabinet can also do the trick. This baby comes with two tall shelves for boots or heels and drawers that could easily stow flip-flops and flats. All this cabinet needs is a row of leather-bound books (Home Decorators, $270).
Perhaps you want something more substantial but not quite so heavy. This beauty belongs in a shabby chic collection and is a light, airy solution for your expanding shoe collection. It’s also the perfect height to properly display a vase of flowers and a bowl with your keys and sunglasses (Furnish, $365).
Have a little fun with it
Got some fancy shoes worth showing off? This shoe ferris wheel is the way to go. It keeps ’em organized in quite possibly the funnest way imaginable. Go on. Get one. Now, try not to spin it with reckless abandon (Rakku Designs, $71).
Regular cabinets are lame. We wanted something sleek and modern and Furnish came to our rescue once again. This wave-shaped cabinet stores a ton of shoes and is super modern. Love (Furnish, $1,700).
For all your like-new kicks, from vintage Jordans to your Loubitans that look like the ones Carrie wore for the Sex and the City movie, you need to display them like artwork, not close them off. The Shrine has designed multiple options for that very purpose.
The Ottoman (storage) Empire
A little unconventional? Sure. But this long shoe storage bench makes for the perfect stuffed coffee table/ottoman. Toss a pretty tray on top to keep your drinks sturdy and you’ve got your whole shoe collection hidden in plain sight. Nice (Amazon, $154).
You might also like this round footstool with a sassy inside. The pockets around the outer walls will keep your nicest shoes undamaged and the middle portion is great for tossing the less expensive shoes (Amazon, $74).
There. We think you’ve got this shoe storage issue handled now. Time to go out and buy some more, right?
