DIY birch branch tea lights put the final touch on your winter tablescapes

Wintery birch branch tea light decorations look beautiful grouped in a tablescape, on the front porch to welcome party guests or at each place setting for the dinner table. At a cost of about 10 cents each, they are a great way to bring a winter wonderland look into your home.

Nothing says “winter” more than snowy white birch branches. They look beautiful in the woodpile and are a great resource for bringing a wintery feel into your home decor.

To make these tea light holders, you’ll need some basic tools (or a friend or relative with some) and tea lights. At just 10 cents each when you purchase the tea lights in bulk, you can create these DIY tea light holders practically for free.

Using your chop saw or hand saw, cut birch branches in varying lengths. Be sure to make a level cut so your candle will stand nice and straight.

Use a drill to route out the tea light hole. CAUTION: When routing, put the birch branch between your shoes while standing. Do not hold the branch with one hand and drill with the other, or you risk injury if the blade slips.

Now just wait for the sun to go down, pop your tea light in and enjoy the ambiance of your new decorations.

You can get creative with how you want to use these to decorate the house or the porch. Wouldn’t they look amazing sitting in the snow lining a walkway leading up to your front door? Or grouped together on your porch, welcoming guests into your home? Or combine them with greenery and pine cones for a beautiful fireplace mantel decoration, buffet topper, dining room tablescape or coffee table decoration. The possibilities for winter decorating are endless!
