Check out Real Housewife Jill Zarin’s luxe NYC apartment

When the star of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York City isn’t stirring up drama with fellow castmates, Jill Zarin enjoys retreating to her bold and modern three-bedroom Upper East Side apartment. She recently gave iVillage a personal tour — keep reading to learn about Jill’s design philosophy and her tips for making your own home décor fabulous.

Seamless design

Cool blues and metallic accents give the home an airy feel, while pops of dramatic fabrics, faux paint treatments and architectural furnishings deliver the ultimate wow-factor. It certainly doesn’t hurt to have stunning views of the Manhattan skyline as a consistent backdrop from one room to the next. We love the sleek yet livable atmosphere Zarin has created.

Keeping it fresh

“My taste changes more often than my husband would like,” she tells iVillage. It helps that all the fabrics and draperies come from the family business — Zarin Fabrics. “I love fabric,” says Zarin. “I think that’s why I like to redecorate so much. I like to be constantly playing with the new fabrics.” Every few years she’ll tweak things here and there to keep the home feeling fresh and modern.

Harmonious bedrooms

All the bedrooms in the home are outfitted with bedding from Jill’s line. The coordinated sets mix intricate patterns with bold colors to give a very rich look — we love that the sets are reasonably priced, too (starting as low as $125.99)!

Jill’s design advice

Not all of us have a hip Manhattan address, but with proper planning we, too, can create our dream home. Jill recommends creating an inspiration board before moving forward with any design plans and she advises choosing a color scheme first. If you’re not sure of your design style, she suggests looking through decorating magazines and cutting out what you like. You’ll start to get a sense of what your likes and dislikes are aesthetically.
