The freshness of spring brings the perfect time to set your table with a new theme. Here are a few ideas to get some color and bloom into your tablescape.
Floral & polka dots
Nothing says spring like bright pastel colors and florals. Pair a polka dot runner with floral plates found in HomeGoods spring collection, or a floral tablecloth with polka dot placemats. Stack dinner and salad plates with opposing patterns to add pizzazz to the place setting. Add a polka dot vase with bright, freshly-cut spring flowers as a centerpiece. Place fresh flowers tied with string on guest plates for a personalized and inviting look.

Grass
We love to lie on grass on beautiful spring days, so why not add it to the table as well? Actual grass can be placed on the table in a planting box as a centerpiece — place burlap underneath to protect the wood. If avoiding real grass, purchase faux grass mats to cut into placemats and a table runner. Add a bright color to the scheme such as hot pink or yellow. Lay daisies next to the cutlery with brightly colored napkins for the ultimate spring layout.
If you’re not into having the grass texture on the placemats, pound grass onto the placemat with this Martha Stewart tutorial.
Butterflies
For a feminine spring look, add butterflies to centerpieces, glasses and plates. Purchase a stencil and non-toxic paint to paint butterflies on plates and vases. If you don’t have enough time for a DIY project, purchase paper butterfly cutouts and use double-sided tape to attach them to vase centerpieces placed randomly about the table. For an extra-feminine touch, stick with baby pink and lavender colors for plates, placemats and napkins.

Tulips & jellybeans
Tulips and jellybeans are the ultimate staple of spring and would look perfect on any spring tablescape. Tulips look fabulous as centerpieces in an Easter basket or light-colored vase. Add the jellybeans as a great accent in clear vases, small ice cream bowls or teacups. Add fun to your tablescape by spreading jellybeans on a white tablecloth or placing them randomly on plates and in glasses.
Eggspectacular
An eggstravagant table setting would look great for any spring gathering. Create a nest using straw and add colored eggs in the middle for a table setting. If not feeling crafty, pick up an already made nest and egg set at your local HomeGoods. Add egg elements by “hiding” them on and around the table, such as in a flower box or in empty glasses. For eggs-tra special guests, write their names on the eggs with a sharpie or with a crayon pre-dye. Use neutral dishes for colored eggs or pastel for white and beige eggs.
