Looking to decorate your home with special pieces? Want to treat a friend or family member to a unique gift? Look no further than Etsy, your handmade superstore!
Etsy‘s tagline is “the world’s handmade marketplace.” A hub of all things cute, quirky and kitsch, vendors from around the world set up virtual stalls to sell their handmade wares. Ranging from homewares to jewellery to clothing, if you can dream it you can probably find it on Etsy.
Etsy was conceived by painter, carpenter and photographer Rob Kalin in early 2005. He wanted to display and sell his products online but couldn’t find a site that suited the creative, personal nature of his wares. He joined forces with Chris Maguire and Haim Schoppik, and in June the same year, Etsy was born.
Today, Etsy has more than 14 million members and 13 million items listed, with over 39 million unique visitors a month in 150 countries around the world. Headquartered in Brooklyn, Etsy has grown into a booming portal for all things beautiful and creative. Its key aim is to preserve super small businesses and nurture budding artists, as well as offer an easy location for buyers to find one-off and individual products.
With more than 13 million products to choose from, the chances are, you’re going to find the perfect homeware item for your home. We searched through our favourite stall vendors to bring you some of the best, from the bathroom to the bedroom to the kitchen.
