Mix and match
Andrea Currie
Hand Make My Day
This reigning champion of TLC’s Craft Wars knows a thing or two about getting creative when it comes to decor. After we discovered her DIY photo frame, we knew this crafter was one to watch. When it comes to decorating for autumn, Andrea says, “This fall is all about showcasing fun fall colors in mix-and-match patterns. Freshen up your fall decor for less by using decorative cupcake liners in garlands, vases and luminaries.” Pick up a package of cupcake liners in a fall-inspired color palette for decor that will take you from September through November, or use a graphic black, white and orange combo for Halloween fun. Fall monogram wreath
Jennifer McAliley
Scissors and Spatulas
This crafty decorator loves fall because it’s easy to incorporate natural elements. “I love decorating outdoors with hay bales, pumpkins and mums (one of my favorite flowers!).” Jennifer buys mums of all shades and places them throughout the yard to give it some seasonal flair. She particularly loves the rich colors that autumn brings. “The vibrant colors are fantastic! I chose sunflowers in my wreath because they were big and bold.” Customize your decor by taking a cue from Jennifer, who added an initial to give her fall monogram wreath a personalized touch.
Nature gets sophisticated
Jennifer Holmes
Dear Lillie
Autumn is truly the star of the show for Jennifer when it comes to decorating for fall. “My favorite fall decor trend this year (and pretty much every year/season) is to bring the outdoors in!” It’s easy to swoon over her gorgeous finds on Pinterest, and her decor is a great example of how simple objects found in nature can take on a sophisticated feel when incorporated into your home decor. Jennifer says, “I love using items from nature — turkey feathers, pumpkins, squash, gourds, wheat twisted into columns, pinecones, acorns, etc., and fresh-cut colored leaves!”
Natural, neutral and simple
Nester Smith
The Nester
When it comes to bright and airy decor, the Nester has decorating for fall down to an art. “Autumn is such a beautiful season, and I think it’s the easiest season to incorporate into our home,” she says, but she uses a cautious approach to her decor. “Over the years, I’ve gone overboard, I’ve gone under-board, and I’ve exhausted lots of fall decorating ideas.” The three lessons she’s learned over the years are: keep it natural, keep it neutral, and keep it simple. She has a few store-bought decorating prompts (a table runner and wooden beads), but then incorporates fresh fall items like pumpkins, gourds and mums.
