Wood pallet walkway
As Donna will tell you on her blog Funky Junk Interiors, this wood pallet walkway was simple, but definitely requires some upkeep to stay pretty. Donna started her project by building a pathway and adding reclaimed wood over soil. Donna left the boards loose in case they needed to change the pathway or remove it for a special occasion. A few years later, that decision came in handy. After the walkway became unsteady, Donna simply replaced the boards to keep her walkway looking and feeling great.
Backyard rug tutorial
Jen from Tatertots & Jello turned her backyard sitting area into a relaxing escape with her DIY stenciled circle rug. Jen, inspired by the Good Luck Charlie set’s rug by Suzanne Sharp, decided to save the $5,000 price tag and re-create a similar piece for her home. Using plates as her template for the circle, she taped and overlaid circles and spray painted a $25 rug from Ikea. The total cost was $40 for this colorful backyard rug.

After moving into an older home, Jenna from Rain on a Tin Roof knew that her porch was in much need of some TLC. By adding electric blue paint and two-toned steps, Jenna and her husband completely changed the look of their porch. To add to the change, Jenna also replaced her door with a $75 Craigslist find.

After deciding on the size of outdoor bed she wanted and where it was to be placed on her deck, Courtney got to work making a frame. After fitting and adding foam and upholstery, the outdoor bed was complete. This DIY outdoor reading nook is the perfect backyard oasis for any summer day… or night!

DIY pallet picnic table
Janae, a DIYer and fan of Ana White, shared her DIY pallet picnic table on the Ana White blog. With little cash in her pocket but plenty of inspiration to create, Janae was able to find a few pallets on Craigslist to start her DIY pallet picnic bench. Breaking down one of the pallets, adding two 2-by-4-inch pieces of lumber and red paint, Janae’s creation was complete. Total cost: $4!
