Garden-themed Christmas Tree

Yesterday I was thinking about ways to decorate the garden for Christmas, and it seems only fair to mention ways to bring the garden feel inside to integrate with your holiday decorations.

Yesterday I was thinking about ways to decorate the garden for Christmas, and it seems only fair to mention ways to bring the garden feel inside to integrate with your holiday decorations. We’ve all heard of country Christmas décor… How about garden Christmas décor?

Hand-made ornaments using your garden harvest would be a fun way to decorate the Christmas tree. Decorate traditional glass bulb ornaments by gluing on dried flower and herb sprigs to add unique patterns to otherwise boring balls. Store-bought hemp and wicker ornaments will complement the natural look.

Another option would be to use actual veggies as ornaments. This will work best with dried vegetables, like beans and chili peppers, or naturally hard harvestables, like gourds. Glue hemp loops to the tops of these and hang them on your tree. Braided garlic bulbs would make a neat garland, as would strung popcorn.

If you don’t have the time for DIY, or fear that children and pets may snack on the tree, I was happy to find a few retail websites that feature garden-themed Christmas ornaments:

Whether you do it all yourself or use a combination of handmade and store-bought ornaments, your garden Christmas tree is sure to be a beautiful and memorable tribute to your hobby.
