If you’ve noticed that bees aren’t frequenting your garden like they did in years past, you’re not alone. Scientists and researchers all over the world have been studying the mysterious disappearance of honeybees for years.

If you’ve noticed that bees aren’t frequenting your garden like they did in years past, you’re not alone. Scientists and researchers all over the world have been studying the mysterious disappearance of honeybees for years.

Since bees are such important pollinators, their disappearance has the potential to have a huge negative impact on agriculture. The Great Sunflower Project started in 2008 to try and find out what’s going on with the bees. Now you can help. The project recently teamed up with Your Garden Show and needs the assistance of everyday gardeners like us.

Here’s how it works: Sign up with Your Garden Show as a Citizen Scientist. They have plenty of information on what flowers to plant to attract bees to your garden. Plant these specific, easy-to-grow plants and keep an eye on your garden and the bees who visit. As you tend to gardening activities, take a moment twice monthly to count the bees and report the data to Your Garden Show for analysis.

With more Citizen Scientists out there, The Great Sunflower Project will be able to collect data from all over the country faster and find answers to solve this honeybee mystery. Sign up today to help out!
