Food bloggers have made a big impact on home cooking, encouraging people to get cozy in their kitchens again. But where does all the cooking magic happen? Take a peek inside the real-life kitchens of some popular food bloggers.
Center of the kitchen
Jenny Steffens Hobick of Everyday Occasions
“What I love most about my kitchen is the center island that my husband and I made that houses our refrigerator, microwave and shelves for our pots and pans. It is the center of our kitchen — and our home! My husband also built a hutch that provides us with tons of open shelf storage in our kitchen — it is so pretty and serves a purpose,” says Hobick.
Everyday Occasions is a food blog about living well every day — whether it’s a special occasion or not.
A comfortable place
Paula Jones of Bell’alimento
“Wow, just one thing I love LOL… I love how comfortable I feel when I’m in my kitchen. My view outside doesn’t hurt at all and my shiny new appliances make cooking up a storm easy-peasy!”
Bell’alimento is a food blog about uncomplicated but breathtaking food written by a woman who adores all things Italian.
Space to cook together
Lydia Walshim of The Perfect Pantry
“The thing I love most about my kitchen is that I designed it so that friends and family have plenty of room to cook together. The butcher block counter in the center of the room is 8 feet long; there’s a dishwasher hidden at the far end. There’s also a stainless steel surface to the right of the stove, so I can transfer hot pots directly to it. In this photo, the kitchen is set up for a group of friends to enjoy Moroccan cooking (see all of the tagines on the stove?). I also love the fact that there are no cupboards, and everything is out where you can see it. On the wall opposite the stove are cutting boards, work bowls, baking sheets and the pantry items I use most often.”
The Perfect Pantry is a food blog that focuses on how to use specific ingredients. It gives a great overview of ingredients, providing recipes too.
Hot stove
Kalyn Denny of Kalyn’s Kitchen
“I love just about everything about my kitchen, which was lovingly remodeled by my brother-in-law, but if I had to choose the one thing I love most about it, definitely it’s my Thermador Pro Harmony Gas Range. This stove has six burners with amazing heat capacity (great for stir-frys) and two of the burners have an extra-low setting that turns off and on to keep foods warm without them getting too hot. The oven is enormous and has three racks and the broiler is also super-powerful. Really, I love everything about this stove, and it definitely gets a lot of use testing recipes!”
Kalyn’s Kitchen is a food blog that focuses on recipes that fit into a low-carb lifestyle like the South Beach Diet.
The heartbeat
Cate O’Malley of Sweetnicks
“The thing I love most about my kitchen is that it is the heartbeat of my home. Whether we’re celebrating holidays, having after-school snacks, family dinners, our annual end-of-the-school-year party, or Wednesdays just because, it all starts in my kitchen.”
Sweetnicks is a blog that focuses on the intersection of life and food. The posts range from parenting topics to great recipes.
An open view
Rachel Gurk of Rachel Cooks!
“There are a lot of things I would change about my kitchen (starting with those appliances!), but I love that it is open to our main living area and dining room. I can watch my daughter play while I am cooking or baking and there is a long bar that is a great gathering area.”
Rachel Cooks! is a food blog that features fun recipes, interesting profiles and more. It’s motto is “Food, Family, Fun.”
