How to make your skin look better in photos

Whether for your wedding day or another special event, all of us want our skin to look picture perfect in photographs. Even if you weren’t born with porcelain skin, you can make your skin look better in photos by following these simple tips.

Step 1: Plan ahead

If you have a special event coming up, take care of your skin well in advance. Drink plenty of water and eat berries, which are high in antioxidants and great for your skin. Be consistent with your skincare routine. Wash your face both morning and night. Use a daily moisturizer and a wrinkle cream at night if you are over 30.

Step 2: Get a little help

A few weeks in advance, head to the dermatologist or an esthetician to get rid of any pimples or other blemishes. If you are going to get a skin treatment – like a peel or botox – be sure to do it several weeks ahead of time. Treatments like these can cause irritation, inflammation and swelling. Therefore you shouldn’t have any treatments close to your special day.

Step 3: Start with concealer

On the day of your photos, hide any skin imperfections with a good concealer. Use a concealer that matches your skin tone as closely as possible. Apply with a tiny makeup brush and blend, blend, blend.

Step 4: Use high-def makeup

In recent years, many beauty brands have released high definition makeup lines. High def makeup is essential for photographs. These cosmetics contain light reflectors and other special ingredients that provide a flawless finish. High-definition foundation may cost a little more but it’s worth it for photographs. No matter what type of foundation you are using, make sure it doesn’t contain sunscreen. Sunscreen reflects light.

Step 5: Set it in place

After applying your makeup add a dusting of loose powder to keep it in place. To keep your skin and makeup looking flawless all day, you can also use a finishing spray. These sprays set your makeup so it doesn’t budge, melt or fade, even with humidity, water and tears. Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray, Perfect Finish Setting Spray and Model In A Bottle Make Up Setting Spray are all tried and true products.

Step 6: Photoshop it

No matter what you do, there’s a chance that you will find an imperfection on your skin when you see your photographs. If that happens, don’t fret. With a little computer re-touching, you can easily make your skin look flawless. You can find a variety of tutorials online to perfect your pictures.
