Is it a lazy Sunday or a rainy day with nothing to do? You have read every book in the house, played all your kid’s favorite games and you’re out of ideas. A crafty DIY music tambourine can be made with items around the house, is easy and will keep your child entertained for hours!
What you’ll need:
- Two firm paper plates
- Paint and paintbrush
- Approximately 20 bottle caps
- Hole punch
- Ribbon
Directions:
Paint plates
Pick a bright, fun color for your tambourine. Turn the plates over to the backside and add a coat or two of paint. Continue adding more with a brush until the whole thing is covered evenly. Set aside to dry.
Bottle cap madness!
Place approximately 20 bottle caps inside one of the paper plates. You can get these at a craft store, or just use some of your own from discarded soda or ale bottles!
Hole punch
After adding bottle caps, place the other plate on top with the freshly painted side facing outward. Hole punch roughly six to eight times around the edge of the two plates. Make sure the plates are together so the holes line up properly.
Ribbon weaving
Buy an interesting ribbon that matches or complements the previously chosen paint color. Cut a piece of ribbon for each hole made. Weave the ribbon through the holes, pull tight and tie a bow for added flair.
Shake it!
Now that your plates are painted, punched and tied with the bottle caps inside, it is time to shake, shake, shake the tambourine! Have fun!
