If you were getting tired of seeing celebrities show every angle of their boob on the red carpet, then good news — they have moved on to a different body part. Now, they are showing a different piece of skin: the side butt. As long as you don’t mind not wearing underwear, then this may be the look for you. Here are some celebs bringing their (bare) gluteus maximuses to the party.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Paltrow should really get the credit for this trend in some ways. She sported it very early on at the Iron Man 3 premiere back in May in an Antonio Berardi gown with sheer side panels. Clearly, the many hours of Pilates and eating kale have paid off, as she looked flawless.
Ke$ha
Never put doing something crazy past Ke$ha. She was all about the side butt trend in this Givenchy gown at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.
Jennifer Lopez
Never one to shy away from highlighting her, well, assets, Lopez has also embraced the side butt. She wore a KaufmanFranco gown with a butt panel using illusion netting to the premiere of Parker.
Miley Cyrus
What did you expect from the girl that wears crop tops and tiny shorts as a daily uniform? Cyrus showed off her side butt in a very geometric way in this Norma Kamali cutout dress she wore to the 2012 VH1 Divas special. Weirdly, this is one of her more modest looks.
Heidi Klum
Klum is all about the side butt. Wouldn’t you be, too, if you looked like that? She has sported the look multiple times including this low-cut liquid gold Julien Macdonald gown at the 21st Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Oscar Viewing Party.
Julianne Hough
Just because you are showing off part of your butt, it doesn’t mean you can’t be demure. Hough only gave us a little side butt peek in her KaufmanFranco dress at the Rock of Ages premiere. Plus, the color of the dress was so bright we were too distracted to even notice.

For promotion of the final Twilight film (and post-cheating on Robert Pattinson), it seemed that Stewart was trying to show more skin than ever on the red carpet and of course, the side butt was included in her style revolution. That’s right. Even Swift got in on the action. In her Donna Karan Atelier gown she wore to the Golden Globes this year, it was business in the front and then a major party on the side for Swift. Can’t wait until she incorporates side butt into a song.

If you want to rock the side butt trend, celebrity stylist Ali Levine told SheKnows, “If you are daring enough to try the trend, make sure you’re not over-exposing yourself. Similar to some side boob, just a hint of side butt should be revealed, if any at all. Keep it to the side of your butt, not the back! A small mesh cut could be sexy — just beware to not show everything!”
