It feels like summer just began and now it is almost the unofficial end. Labor Day always seems like the window into fall and the end of summer, so I love to celebrate with a last hurrah.
Labor Day, for us, involves swimming (it stays warm here in Northern California into October), barbecues and friends. We love to get together with several of our kids’ friends and their families and hang out all day. All of the kids party until they can’t stay up any longer because they know, soon enough, the pool parties will come to an end and it will be time for school, homework and everything autumn.
A backyard barbecue and swim party is super casual, but a fun reason to wear something cute. Cut-offs are my go-to casual staple, and paired with a loose fitting vintage (or vintage-inspired) plaid blouse and sandals, I feel backyard ready.
After Labor Day, I start to put away my summer clothes, pull out the cool weather boxes and make a mental list of the things I want (need?) to buy for the fall and winter.
