One of Phillip Lim’s resort 2014 prints incorporates an organic vertical section of stacked colors with a black outline and crosshatch. We’re going to show you how to translate this fresh and artistic fashion look onto your nails.
Phillip Lim-inspired nail design
Supplies:
- Essie’s Butler Please and Lovie Dovie
- SinfulColors’ Innocent and Pull Over
- Sephora by OPI’s Hi Def
- China Glaze’s Liquid Leather
- Orly’s White Tips
- Scotch tape
- Small paint brush
Instructions:
Base coat
Start with a white base coat to make your blank canvas.
Tape
Place tape vertically on your nails to create an imperfect section to fill in your colors. You can do one or two of these per nail.
Add color
Starting with orange, make a few abstract strokes on the bottom of the nail. Keep adding colors upward until you go through all of them. You can leave some space at the top or bottom of a few.
Remove tape
After the colors are dry, remove the tape.
Outline
Using the small paint brush, outline the color blocks with black. The lines shouldn’t be perfect; they should have character. You can add lines at the bottom of the color blocks and on the side also. See the runway image for more fashion design inspiration.
