Beauty
experts speak!
SheKnows: What inspired you to start BeautyCon?
Marina Curry: After I started my own YouTube channel about fashion and beauty, I immediately wanted to connect with other people that were doing the same thing — not only because I wanted to meet them in person, but I also wanted to ask them questions on how they became so successful. I imagined how great it would be to have one place where all of my favorite bloggers, Pinners, YouTubers, Instagramers and everyone that I followed online can come together and BeautyCon was the perfect solution, so I went for it!
SK: I love that you’re partnering with I Am That Girl! Giving back is always beautiful. What other ways can women give back through beauty/fashion?
MC: You can give back to society by being confident and strong in your own skin. Every single person counts and together we make a big impact. I admire everyone in the BeautyCon community, putting themselves out there for the world to judge takes a lot of courage, but they prove that you don’t have to be a professional model or look a certain way to have your opinions listened to. On the surface it seems like it’s just about fashion and beauty, but it really is a much bigger movement!
SK: What are your top three beauty essentials?
MC: Lately I am loving bright lipsticks from NYX cosmetics, I always must have a great mascara (like Maybelline’s Volum’ Express Falsies Flared) and I love Lush’s products as well for my skin.
SK: Where do you get your beauty and fashion inspiration from?
MC: I get my fashion and beauty inspiration from my favorite YouTubers, Pinners, bloggers and Instagramers!
SK: What’s your number one beauty tip?
MC: Eat healthy. What you put in your body affects the quality of your skin and makes you feel great, which is the best accessory of all!
SK: How would you describe your personal style?
MC: Beach casual. I live by the beach so I go most places in jeans and a T-shirt or a bright-colored dress!
SK: Looking great doesn’t have to cost a lot. What’s your best budget style tip?
MC: Mix and match. Also I am not afraid of repeating outfits as long as you have great friends that won’t make fun of you!!
