Outfit ideas: Peplum dressed up and dressed down

Since its introduction in the 1800s, the peplum silhouette has made its comeback many times around. Now is definitely one of those times! The design is flattering for women of all shapes and sizes, and there is quite an assortment of pieces you can wear to rock this trend. From adorable tops to chic skirts and dresses, there is a perfect peplum style for everyone. Here I highlighted two of my favorite ways to wear peplum — a cool and casual look for day, and a flirty and fun style for night.

For my daytime look, I chose a crisp white peplum top paired with shorts. The peplum adds a flirty edge to a casual day ensemble. I picked a nautical-inspired pair of shorts for this classic late-summer look. To make this outfit really pop, without sacrificing comfort, I added a pair of cute flats in a bright hue. Oversized scarves are great accessories, and I chose this green one to pull my ensemble together. I love this look because it’s simple, stylish and perfect for anything from sailing to sitting on the lawn at an outdoor concert.

For evenings, looking chic and confident are my top priorities. This printed peplum dress is super sleek and an easy piece to style year-round. This particular frock is great for the office, but can also easily transition to going out for the night. It works for anything from a cocktail hour to the club (and everything in between). I added a belt to break up the print and really emphasize my shape. Another great way to do this is to try a piece that is two-toned. Mix in a neutral shoulder bag and colorful heel to polish the look!
