Black hair is dramatic, mysterious and bold. Here’s how to choose blush that will enhance your natural coloring without competing with your black hair for attention.
No drama
Betsy Martin, makeup expert and editor of fashion/beauty e-zine Reign Denver, advises you to keep it subtle: “Girls with dark black hair should avoid anything overly dramatic, or the contrast will be entirely too harsh. Go for a color that complements your complexion. If you are fair, try Bobbi Brown’s Blush in Desert Rose, a muted pinky brown. If you have dark skin and hair, go for a similar hue in a deeper shade, such as Freshface Blush Powder by Fresh.”
Pretty in pink
Mid-spectrum pink tones work best for black hair. L’Oreal Paris True Match Blush has a few very affordable options for black-haired women; try Tender Rose, Baby Blossom or Innocent Flush. When all else fails, says Martin, whip out Nars’ most popular color, Orgasm. For those who battle dry skin, she suggests trying the cream form of Nars, The Multiples. “Whichever formula suits your skin type, the pinkish gold hue will give a you a natural glow that looks flawless on any face. For those with darker eyes and hair, go brighter.”
