Best blush for blondes

Blondes really do have all the fun — at least, at the makeup counter. They can apply blushes ranging from basic neutrals to pinks and warm brown tones.

Play it up or play it safe?

If you want to play it safe, stick to Nars’ most popular color, Orgasm. Almost every woman looks good in this shade. One fashion editor recommends Stila’s Convertible Color in Peony — a basic blush with just a hint of color. Bobby Brown has a shimmery line that can add just the right amount of subtle splash in a more neutral color. Their Bahama Brown (a shimmery dusky pink) works well with pale blondes. For really bright blonde hair, try Washed Rose (a warm rose shimmer).

What’s the occasion?

Melissa, a blonde since birth, complains that blush often looks different from one environment to the next. “When I am inside or at my cubicle in my office building, I like to stay away from too much cheek color so it doesn’t contrast with the horrible lighting. I go a little lighter in the color spectrum than I would at an evening event.” Try L’Oreal’s True Match Blush Shades in Subtle Sable or Barely Blushing. For a night out on the town or an outing with decent lighting, add a nice color pop with L’Oreal’s Tender Rose or Innocent Flush.
