The forces behind the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty are making a splash again with the second annual Dove Self-Esteem Weekend.
Dove is most famous for its luxurious body products, of course, but it’s also pretty well known for the DoveCampaign for Real Beauty. Who will ever forget that inspiring campaign that featured real women in all different shapes and sizes in advertisements? We certainly won’t.
Well, ladies, Dove has a new trick up its sleeves. Starting today, the brand is hosting the second annual Dove Self-Esteem Weekend (Oct. 21-23). For this one weekend, the brand is encouraging everyone to spend an hour with a girl in their lives and perform a self-esteem building activity. By doing so, the brand hopes to bring attention to and change the fact that only four percent of girls consider themselves beautiful.
We’re huge fans of real beauty here at LovingYou and this statistic really saddens us. That’s why we’re so happy to hear that so many celebrities are joining the movement to spread the word this weekend! This year, GrammyAward-nominated singer Natasha Bedingfield, former Olympian Julie Foudy and Dove Global Self-Esteem Ambassador Jess Weiner are all lending their time to the worthy cause, and emphasizing just how important mentoring can be in a girl’s life.
“If you spend the time listening to a girl, and helping her develop a positive relationship with beauty, you really can make a world of difference,” said Jess Weiner. “I invite everyone to join us for the Dove Self-Esteem Weekend and celebrate real beauty.”
Dove® kicked off the weekend in New York with Natasha Bedingfield, Julie Foudy, Jess Weiner and members of the Girl Scout Council of Greater New York, by hosting an honest discussion about issues affecting girls’ self-esteem and a songwriting exercise to encourage girls to celebrate real beauty.

The money raised will help contribute to self-esteem programming for girls in the U.S.
