National Moment of Chill hits the states

Let’s be honest — January isn’t exactly the best month of the year. The holidays are over and your holiday credit card bills are rolling in; those New Year’s resolutions are slipping away from you ever so quickly. And if you’re unlucky enough, you’re stuck in the snow and cold. If you’re feeling the blues, you might just want to check out this relaxing movement that’s hitting the states Jan. 23. Get ready to chill out, darlings!

Did you know that Jan. 23 is considered one of the most stressful days of the year? Yep, it’s the sad truth. If you’re feeling the pressure this year, it’s time to chill out for a minute, and one company wants you to do just that! Aura Cacia, a producer of essential oils and aromatherapies, is encouraging harried Americans to collectively break for 15 minutes at high noon, or Sigh Noon, as they’re calling it, on Jan. 23. This “National Moment of Chill” is an effort to get us all to stop in our tracks for a minute and just breathe.

“Each year we start off with good intentions: We’ll lose weight, exercise and relax more, save money. But it soon slips away into our constant state of fast-forward, in which we are ricocheting from one commitment to another — multitasking ourselves into a downward spiral of exhaustion,” said Jane Merten, Senior Brand Manager for Aura Cacia. “This lifestyle is not sustainable. So, we’re asking the nation to take a collective deep breath.”

So what should you do with those 15 minutes of chilling? Take a walk, stretch, massage lavender on your temples, hug a loved one for a minute longer, play with your dog… whatever you do, just relax, Merten says.

Sounds like a good idea to us!
