Our favorite matte foundations

Oily skin has special needs and a good matte foundation is one of them. We’re sharing our faves with you today!

Hourglass Cosmetics Immaculate Liquid Powder – This is the foundation for the oiliest among us. With its powder-like finish, you get the least amount of oil breakthrough of any foundation I’ve used. This water resistant foundation means you’ll be able to go all day with minimal to no touch ups. It has light to medium buildable coverage and covers imperfections well alongside its superb oil absorbing capabilities. ($55)

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24HR – Lancôme gives us long wear, full coverage, SPF 15 and a matte finish in a foundation that feels as light as air on your skin. You get perfected skin with a soft focus finish that seems almost airbrushed in this new formula that comes in a whopping 28 shade range. ($44)?

Laura Mercier Oil Free Supreme – This new foundation from makeup queen Mercier mattes but doesn’t feel or look dry on skin. The semi-matte finish makes this a great choice for normal to oily skins. The coverage is quite good, and thanks to oil absorbing ingredients like talc and kaolin, touch ups are not needed very often. ($42)

YSL Matt Touch Compact SPF 20 – Powder foundations often make great matte ones and this is no exception. It has a light to medium finish that despite being a powder doesn’t look cakey or heavy. This gives a touch of luminosity to skin and you can build to your desired level of coverage. The compact formula makes this great for on the go use and the SPF 20 is a rarity in matte formulas. ($57)

Cover Girl Simply Powder – While not technically a matte foundation, this foundation is for all skin types and gives good full coverage at a budget-friendly price. ($8)
