3 Ways to decrease stress

Life is stressful, and sometimes it feels like there’s nothing you can do to calm down when you’re stressed out to the max. Lucky for you, we’ve got three ways to slow down the stress.

Tune out

Yep, we’re actually suggesting you unplug and shut off those devices — we’re talking cell phones, laptops, etc. — and just relax, people! Shocking, right? These days, we’re all so tuned in to technology… all the time. From the minute we get up and check our phones for any missed calls to the time we go to bed and squeeze in just one more work email, we’re always on the go. So is it really surprising that we’re always so stressed?

To relieve a bit of stress in your life and get a little more shuteye, make it a habit to shut off from technology for at least an hour — if not more — before you go to bed. We know it sounds difficult, but it can be done, and in the long-term, you’ll be happy you did it because you’ll start to sleep better and have a clearer mind.

Work up a sweat

You’ve probably heard it a million times, but it’s true: Exercise releases endorphins and can help improve your mood (and your health, of course!). When you’re stressed out to the max, sometimes the last thing you want to do is spend your time on the treadmill or the stationary bike, but you should because doing so can help relieve all the mental chaos you’re feeling.

Pamper yourself

Sure, not everyone can afford a day at the spa every time they get stressed out, but you can certainly afford a bit of pampering. Even if you just ask your man to give you a foot massage or you stir up a yummy and healthy DIY beauty recipe, just doing something for yourself can take a load of stress off your shoulders.
