6 Eco-friendly beauty products that really work

As a working makeup artist, I need to ensure my clients’ skin is in top form before getting them camera ready. To help celebrate Earth Month, I did a little digging to find eco-friendly skin care products that are not only healthy for you and yield results, but are also good for the environment.

The label is important!

When shopping for eco-friendly beauty products, look for ones that are made with all natural and organic ingredients and that are free of environmental pollutants and harsh chemicals. Also remember that what the product is packaged in is just as important. Packaging that is marked as biodegradable or recyclable is a good thing to look for. Read your labels carefully. Do look for products that are free of parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, and DEA and TEA free and make sure that ingredients are not tested on animals. I’ve done some label-checking for you, and here are some great brands to get your eco-friendly beauty routine started!

La Face

La Face is certified organic and specializes in highly innovative and state of the art scientific expertise in their approach to natural skin care. Want immediate results on those fine lines? My new favorite is their Line Erasure Concentrate.

Whish

Whish gets that body beach ready with this terrific exfoliating body wash. Scrub with bamboo and sugarcane, moisturize with coconut oil and cleanse with oat kernel extract. Plus, it smells like heaven!

Amala

Amala seeks out high potency organic plants and custom distills them, ensuring their ingredients retain their full therapeutic value, yielding skin care that gives proven results. The Rejuvenating Collection has a cocoa bean base, which stimulates cell renewal.

Red Flower

Red Flower is 100 percent botanical, made with certified organic ingredients sourced from Finland. Want a terrific travel set that revitalizes and hydrates? This is it!

Naturopathica

Naturopathica — Want a natural version of Botox? Check out their beech tree ginseng daily moisturizer. It contains potent beech tree extract that helps to significantly increase the oxygen consumption rate in cells, thereby enhancing moisture retention.

Josie Maran

Josie Maran uses argan oil as a key ingredient in her line. Produced from the argan tree in the semi-deserts of Morocco, argan oil has been used by Moroccan women for centuries for its nutritional and cosmetic benefits. For the ultimate cleanser, makeup remover and moisturizer all in one, try her argan cleansing oil!
