Will the winter chills ever end? Believe it or not, spring is just around the corner. Until the weather kicks in, the Smashbox Spring 2013 Love Me Collection gives us warm, breezy thoughts with pretty pastels and pinks.
Love Me Collection
It’s hard to see the end of winter when we’re still clutching our coats against windy chills, and each outdoor venture is weighed heavily against necessity. Take heart! We’re already halfway through the season, and spring is closer than it seems.
If you are trying to think warm thoughts, the Smashbox Spring 2013 Love Me Collection is a breath of fresh spring air with bright pinks and fun packaging.
This collection is a collaboration with artist Curtis Kulig, a NYC-based photographer and illustrator. His “Love Me” graffiti campaign has tagged downtown metros the world over from Los Angeles to Tokyo, and now it’s the logo and inspiration for the makeup line by Smashbox.
Eyeshadow palettes
The most adorable part of this collection has got to be the eyeshadow palettes. They break up the monotony of your typical squares and circles with a free form design that separates five eye colors. The logo is a separate piece between the case and the palette that easily lifts up. If you’re familiar with Smashbox eyeshadows, then you know that they have a creamy, velvety texture with a highly pigmented color payoff. These eye palettes do not disappoint.
The Entice Me palette features a beautiful midnight blue and a pale aqua shadow. The most intriguing color is probably the purple duo-chrome shade that goes from plum to lavender depending on the light. The Admire Me palette is a range of wearable neutrals that includes a shimmery mocha, a copper tone and a light apricot.
Blush
The Idolize Me blush is a pink/apricot that is a lot like the NARS Orgasm blush without the shimmer. It is highly pigmented but sheers out beautifully to a light flush on the cheeks.
Lips
The lip colors are creamy and they also have a high color payoff. Tempt Me is not one of those light colors that washes out to nothing when applied. The color is quite full and opaque. Love Me is a red shade that is not to be ignored. The Lip Enhancing Glosses — Adore Me and Charm Me — are also very pretty and shimmery.
Eyeliner
The one disappointment might be the Love Me Paint Pen eyeliner. It’s rather watery and not a true black. Overall, the collection is fun and beautiful… definitely something to look forward to this spring!
