On our radar: Emerging fashion designers to watch

Ash Haute Couture launched her collection of women’s vibrant and luxurious handbags and accessories at Style Fashion Week in Los Angeles. The internationally recognized Bollywood designer provides a couture label that combines contemporary femme style from the West with Eastern influences. Each piece is handmade with high quality fabrics, manufactured in her family’s establishment in India.

Quynh Paris, a collection by Nguyen Quynh Nhu, exudes a playful energy with elaborate embellishments. It’s been said that her dramatic style often transforms her models into walking art. She creates using vastly different textures and fabrics, often in the same garment. Her pieces are designed for professional settings with cuts that exaggerate a woman’s figure while incorporating dramatic draping.

Highland, a brand created by designer Lizzie Owens, has a menswear line that focuses on Owens’ take on what men really want to wear — functional outerwear, sturdy knits and relaxed separates. Her style is that of a throwback to the ’80s and ’90s, and it’s definitely her use of color that sets this designer apart from the others.

Gypsy Warrior started out when college best friends Nicla DiCosmo and Michel Bezoza became vintage resellers on eBay. From there, they started selling jewelry, clothing, shoes and accessories online. In October of 2011, they opened their first brick and mortar boutique and outgrew the space in just one year. Now, the duo has a 3,000 square foot location in Ridgewood, New Jersey, with a fully redesigned website and blog. Look out for these two, as their next step is going after their passion for design. Their first full line of denims and cotton basics debuts in April.
