We all long to have the flawless makeup that our favorite celebrities have. Their secret weapon to achieving a flawless face is contouring and highlighting the right areas.
Here are the steps you need to take to contour and highlight your face effectively. All you need is bronzer with an angled brush and brightening powder and a brush.
Contouring
Contour your face with a bronzer and an angled brush. After you apply your foundation and concealer, you will want to create shadows or hollow out certain areas of your face to make it appear thinner and sun-kissed. Simply apply bronzer to these areas with an angled brush and blend.
Contouring areas
Contour the sides of your nose.
Contour the outside areas of your forehead down to the outside of your brow bone.
Contour underneath your cheekbones parallel with your jaw line.
Contour your jawline and under your chin.
Highlighting
Highlight areas of your face using brightening powder or a light-colored concealer. By highlighting, you make the contouring pop more and add a sheer effect to your overall look. Simply apply brightening powder or concealer to these areas with a brush and blend.
Highlighting area numbers
Highlight right under your eyebrows.
Highlight inside the corner of your eyes.
Highlight the center of your nose and in between your eyebrows.
Highlight in between areas 3 and 4 of where you contoured. Highlight this triangular area (from your temples, to the outside of your nose, underneath your eyes.
Tips by face shape
- Heart: People with heart-shaped faces have wider foreheads and smaller chins. To even that out, you will want to focus more heavily on contouring area 2 and less on areas 3 and 4.
- Square: To combat a strong jaw, focus on contouring areas 3 and 4.
- Round: To appear thinner and less round, focus heavily on contouring all areas listed, especially areas 2 and 3.
- Oval: An oval face is a balanced face, but you can always look more fierce. Contour all areas evenly.
After
Apply blush above your cheekbones and in the apple of your cheeks and apply lipstick and eye makeup.
