Has the winter weather taken a toll on your locks? Bring them to life with these home hair remedies.
Ladies, we’ve all experienced it. With the change of seasons comes change in our hair, and it’s usually not for the best. Believe it or not, out of all four seasons, winter tends to do some of the most damage to our tresses. Whether your scalp is oily from having a hat glued to your head, dry from the bitter cold, dull with breakage from the brutal temperatures and high heaters or simply full of static from the cool, crisp air, we have great home treatments for you to try!
Baking soda
Baking soda is a great way to remove built up residue and excess oils in your hair. Mix two tablespoons of baking soda with enough water to form a paste. Massage through hair, concentrating on problem areas, and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse hair, shampoo and condition as normal. Your hair will instantly feel cleaner and lighter.
Sour cream and yogurt
These two things can bring life to dry, dull hair. Dampen hair and massage a generous amount of sour cream (or yogurt) into your hair, concentrating on your ends and avoiding your scalp. Let sit in hair for about 15 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and condition as normal. You locks will be as shiny as new!
Frizzy hair
Frizzy hair can often be caused by static, which is common when the air is cool and dry in the winter. A quick and easy way to tame your frizz is to gently rub a dryer sheet from your roots to your ends. Dryer sheets are made to remove static electricity from clothes in the dryer, but they work wonders on hair as well!
Other pantry products that double as meals and hair products include avocado which tames frizz, olive oil which helps replenish your dry scalp and flat beer, which can help add shine and strength to your lovely locks!
