Get the look: Pink’s pompadour hairstyle

We’re totally digging the short hair trend on stars like Charlize Theron and Miley Cyrus. Let’s be honest, though: Only one woman can be credited with starting the trend: Pink! We got the lowdown on how to create her signature pompadour from hairstylist Marcia Hamilton.

Love Pink’s darling short hairstyle? You aren’t the only one. The singer’s signature style is part rebellion, part vanity.

“Everyone has long, brown hair,” Pink said last year. “When two girls get fearless and shave their heads, it’s a big deal. I think we’re just a little more daring.”

We agree! We love the look so much that we asked her stylist, Marcia Hamilton, for tips on getting her signature pompadour at home.

And, luckily, she obliged.

“For this look, start with dirty hair,” Hamilton said. “If your hair is really clean, add a bit of a mattifying powder. Section out the crown area and use a large-barrel curling iron to create volume, pinning each curl formed out of the way.”

Then, add a nickel-size glob of pomade, rub your hands together and apply to the sides and the back of your hair.

“When I use other styling products besides pomades, I always use mybotto inverted bottle holders like this hot pink one here to get every last drop of product out. They help me save time and money and they are great for reducing my use of plastic bottles,” she added.

Next, brush the sides back and, if the hair is too long, secure with bobby pins. Then, take the pins out of the crown and tease.

“Spray with White Sands Stuck Up Mega Hold Hairspray for maximum hold and volume,” Hamilton added.

Yep, it’s really that simple!
