Spring is upon us?

I can hardly say it out loud let alone type it out — there is still a load of snow on the ground and it seems as if winter isn’t going away anytime soon. While the weather outside says winter, the stores, magazines, Pinterest and more say spring. I couldn’t be more excited about some of this spring’s major trends — and forget the weather outside being frightful, I’m going to wear all of these right now.

Colored leather

It seems like it’s just been over the last couple of years that leather has become a mainstream choice of material in almost every piece of a wardrobe — from the obvious bags and shoes to now dresses and tees. While it used to be typical to just find black and brown leather, I adore the rainbow of colors — both brights and pastels — that leather goodies can now be found in. Pink! Orange! Blue! Yellow! It’s a perfect marriage of a great material and great colors.

Kiley’s recommendations:

Green vegan leather moto jacket by RD Style. (Piperlime, $98)
Jawbreaker A-line mini skirt by Love Leather. (ShopBop, $231)
Red vegan leather peplum top by Tinley Road. (Piperlime, $79)

Polka dots

I’ve been polka dot’s biggest fan since first grade (where literally I’m wearing them head to toe in my school picture). I am elated to say they can now be found on almost every piece of women’s wear — tops, denim, socks, bags… and even men are getting in on the polka dot action now that ties, shorts and more can be found with the popular pattern.

Kiley’s recommendations:

Scattered dot shift dress by J. Crew. (J.Crew, $168)

Polka dot jeans by Madewell. (Madewell, $88)

A-line skirts and dresses

There’s nothing girlier than a little flare on your dress or skirt. It’s so feminine and ultra-flattering since it skims out over the top of your legs. Pair with a more fitted top to balance the flare, and either leggings with boots or bare-legged with sandals.

Kiley’s recommendations:

Skater dress by ASOS. (ASOS, $34)
Lavinia dress by Club Monaco. (Club Monaco, $170)
Neoprene dress by Tibi. (Tibi, $525)
