Shake It Up star Zendaya is about to break out of the Disney mold and into the mainstream with her upcoming stint on Dancing With the Stars. This teen has funky style all over, but we especially love her long, flowing hair. We asked her stylist to give us the scoop on how to get this look at home.
Zendaya is about to get her two-step on for millions of fans on the new season of Dancing With the Stars — and every good dancer needs a great head of hair for the performance!
Luckily, the Disney star has celebrity hairstylist Araxi Lindsey in her corner. The hair pro worked with the teen star on the set of her new music video for “Contagious Love” alongside Shake It Up co-star Bella Thorne.
And now, Lindsey’s sharing her secrets!
“Zendaya naturally has amazing hair. She loves movement andeasy flowing tresses,” Lindsey said of her client’s strands.
To start, Lindsey applied White Sands Orchids Oil ($25) to Zendaya’s dry hair.
“[It’s] not heavy or greasy. It’s a lightweight, smoothing serum that smells amazing,” she said.
Next, she sectioned off the actress’ hair into two parts and flatironed each side with a 1-inch ceramic iron.
“I usually take small sections and run the flatiron twice from the roots to the ends of her hair,” Lindsey said.
Then, she took small, rectangular sections and put curves on the ends using the ceramic iron.
Finally, she set the look by spraying the crown of Zendaya’s hair with White Sands Mega Hold Hairspay ($24) to keep flyaways in place.
“This hairspray is a perfect styling tool for a light, all-day finishing hold,” Lindsey revealed. “Zendaya’s hair was able to keep movement and body for a full 10-hour day of dancing, singing and acting.”
