Fake these top cosmetic procedures at home

They’re expensive, increasingly popular and instantly effective. Today’s top cosmetic procedures have come a long way since plastic surgery of yesteryear. But why spend the money and undergo extensive procedures when you can fake the results at home? Here are some simple makeup tricks, home remedies and cosmetic products that you can use for the same results — all without the trip to the dermatologist.

Botox

Botox has been the go-to way for women to remove fine lines and wrinkles for years, but requires costly and painful injections. Skip the needle and fake the results at home with makeup products you already own. Jonathan Fernandez, celebrity makeup artist, recommends filling in fine lines and wrinkles with a full coverage concealer a shade lighter than your foundation for a quick solution to fine lines. Keeping the light shade in the lines will visually smooth out those wrinkles.

Brow lift

Why visit a plastic surgeon for a brow lift when you can actually fake the results simply by tweezing? According to eyebrow stylist Joey Healy, a properly plucked brow will help open up the entire eye area and can take years off a face. First, make sure your brow begins at the bridge of your nose. To find this spot, hold a pencil up to the side of your nose bone. From this spot, begin to slightly incline the brow towards your arch. The arch should be placed approximately two-thirds of the way out toward the temple — never at the center of your eye. Then, taper your brows down into clean points.

Chemical peel

A chemical peel may give you glowing skin, but it can contain harmful and irritating chemicals. Instead, use lemons as suggested by DeVario R. Hannah, a wardrobe stylist based in Memphis. You simply need a lemon and a soft bristle makeup brush. Slice the lemon in half. Rub one half of the lemon on the face until the skin is masked with the juice. Take the soft bristle brush, and in a counterclockwise motion, rub the entire face. Allow to dry overnight and wash off in the morning.

Cellulite procedure

Cellulite procedures like Velasmooth and Endermologie supposedly nix cellulite and make legs appear smooth and toned. However, they’re expensive and don’t always yield the results you’re looking for. Fake it instead with Jergens Natural Glow Firming Moisturizer. This cream gradually creates a natural-looking tan on your skin while it works to firm and tighten skin.

Lip filler

As an alternative to costly lip filler injections with hyaluronic acid, consider plumping lips with lip volumizer like Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss. This luxe gloss — often used by celebs like Angelina Jolie — puffs lips with cross-linked sugars and wheat proteins to create luscious and full lips sans needle injection.
