10 Best sunsets in America

There’s nothing more relaxing than watching the sunset on your patio with your favorite beverage in hand. Here are the top 10 sunsets the U.S. has to offer!

Just last night I was driving home from running errands when I encountered one of the most beautiful sunsets I’d ever seen. Living in Arizona, I’ve witnessed quite a few breathtaking ones, but none quite as beautiful as last night. The clouds floated among the desert mountains, creating blue, pink and light purple hues in the sky. I ended up taking the longer route home so I could enjoy the view just a bit more. Do you happen to live in a state with incredible sunsets? Check out the top 10 America has to offer!

1

The beaches of Santa Monica, California

There’s nothing quite like watching the sunset over the beach. Santa Monica’s sunsets range from pink and blue to orange and red. You may even get to see dolphins popping in and out of the waves.

2

The Grand Canyon, Arizona

Arizona offers beautiful sunsets even in the city, so you can only imagine the depth and color of the sunsets in the Grand Canyon. They’re so richly colored and intricate that many can only describe the experience as majestic.

3

Miami

As in Arizona, sunsets in Florida are one of a kind. Miami in particular offers some of the best. Our favorite place to watch is South Pointe Park. Take a walk, enjoy views of the Atlantic, check out the water features the park has to offer and, of course, watch the sunset.

4

Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

Appropriately named, Sunset Point in Bryce Canyon National Park is one of the best places to watch the sunset. You can also hike, bird watch, clear your mind and take in the fresh air.

5

Hawaii

Any island in Hawaii is going to have a spectacular sunset. How could it not? You’re surrounded by the ocean, sandy beaches and clear skies. If we had to choose, though, we would pick Waikiki Beach. Yes, it’s touristy, but that means it must be a really great spot! You can even view movies on the beach on Saturdays and Sundays, once the sun goes down.

6

Las Vegas

Most hotels in Las Vegas offer incredible views not only of the Strip but the sky. Vegas is surrounded by mountains, which creates magnificent sunsets. We suggest heading to the top of the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino to get a 360-degree view of the sky.

7

South Padre Island, Texas

Don’t just watch the sun go down on South Padre Island, make it an experience! Take a dinner cruise on the open waters while viewing one of the most breathtaking sunsets in the U.S.

8

Washington, D.C.

After a long day of museums and monuments, there’s nothing better than dinner at sunset. Check out Washington Harbor, where you can see not only the sunset but also the city. Other perks include live entertainment and a boardwalk.

9

Seattle

Seattle’s sunsets are good all over the city, but for the best vantage point, you’ll need to head to Alki Beach Park. Walk, bike or rollerblade along the 2.5-mile trail and bring a picnic dinner to watch the sunset. The best thing about the view is you can see the city of Seattle on the horizon.

10

Dauphin Island, Alabama

Dauphin Island is called the sunset capital of Alabama. It’s a white-sand beach on the Gulf Coast, creating panoramic views of the setting sun. It’s been commonly described as looking an opal — gorgeous!
