When it comes to makeup, celebrities have it easy. They have makeup artists chomping at the bit to work with their famous faces. Makeup perfection might not come as easy for regular gals, but we have all the same makeup shades and tools at our disposal. You just have to know where to start! We broke down three makeup looks to make a Hollywood face more accessible.
Sultry seductress
The sultry seductress look isn’t foreign to the gorgeous Scarlett Johansson, but this look kicks it up a notch. Her soft, natural look can be recreated starting with the skin. Cream foundations like Revlon’s ColorStay Whipped Crème Makeup (Drugstore.com, $11) give the skin a healthy, dewy glow and even complexion. Skip the powder and follow with a cranberry glowing blush (Narscosmetics.com, $26) on the apples of your cheeks. Then it’s on to the real trick — highlighter!
A highlighter like Benefit’s High Beam (Sephora.com, $26) looks naturally beautiful when placed on cheekbones, noses and brow bones. Using a neutral eyeshadow palette like Urban Decay’s beloved Naked 2 (Urbandecay.com, $50), work a dark taupe shimmer shadow into the lid and around the socket, following with a clean blending brush. Sweep a dark brown liquid eyeliner like NYX’s Studio Liquid Eyeliner in Extreme Coffee (Nyxcosmetics.com, $5) in a cat eye shape, then follow with your favorite mascara. We like CoverGirl’s LashBlast in very black (Target.com, $7).
All that jazz
Taylor Swift shocked the 2013 MTV Video Music Award red carpet by sporting a very classy, adult look. We think it’s very “Chicago.”
Start with a full coverage foundation like Dermablend’s Smooth Indulgence Foundation (Drugstore.com, $26), which will cover any and all flaws. Follow by blending a steely gray shimmer shadow into the eyelid and around the socket like Revlon’s Luxurious Color Diamond Lust eyeshadow in Celestial Silver (Soap.com, $5). Heavily line the upper lid with a dark steel liquid liner like Yves Saint Laurent’s Steel Reflections (Sephora.com, $34), adding a creamy-yet-shimmery pencil liner all around the eye like Sephora Collection’s retractable eyeliner in Glitter Grey (Sephora.com, $12). Sweep some serious mascara to your lashes in several coats using NYX’s Doll Eye (Nordstrom.com, $9).
Taylor went all out with contouring here. She put a matte bronzer under her cheekbones like Wet N’ Wild’s Color Icon (Walmart.com, $4), followed by a bone-tinted highlighter, made famous by Nars’ Albatross (Sephora.com, $26). Smooth on a matte red lip like Kate Moss Collection’s matte line in 104 (Ulta.com, $5) and you’re in business.
Super simplistic
Just want to look fresh and pretty? Then Brittany Snow is the perfect beauty icon. The naturally gorgeous actress freshens up her look with a few simple steps.
First, smooth and protect your skin with a simple BB cream like Garnier’s version (Soap.com, $11) and follow up with a pretty, highlighting peach blush like CoverGirl’s Instant Cheekbones in Peach Perfection (Walmart.com, $5). Add a simple black liner like Wet N’ Wild’s MegaLiner (Drugstore.com, $3) to the top lid, complete with the slightest cat eye, and then add natural-looking falsies to the mix. We found these pretty lashes by Shu Uemura to be the perfect fit (shuuemura-usa.com, $23). Follow up with a sheer tinted lip balm like Burt’s Bee’s Hibiscus (Amazon.com, $12) and you’re done!
