Mommy’s day out guide

Every busy mom deserves some time to do nothing more than pamper herself. Give yourself the go-ahead for some well-deserved mommy time and then follow our guide for a relaxing mommy’s day out.

Relax

Give yourself a soothing treat of relaxation. Whether that means getting a massage, spending the day at the spa, going hiking or taking a yoga class, do something that allows you to let go of all the stress you usually have on your mind.

Get pampered

Get a facial, ask your stylist for a new hairdo (try out one of fall’s new color trends or rock a sexy mom bob) or get a manicure and pedicure. You take care of and fuss over your family all the time — let others dote on you for a little while.

Go shopping

We don’t mean for groceries for tonight’s dinner or for new socks and undies for your little ones. We mean the kind of shopping Julia Roberts does in Pretty Woman when Richard Gere is footing the bill. OK, you don’t have to go that far — but give yourself the go-ahead to splurge on a fantastic bag, a killer pair of shoes that you could never wear to the PTA meeting or a fabulous fall staple like a luxe scarf or hat.

Treat yourself to lunch

Take yourself out to lunch for one or meet a group of girlfriends at your favorite restaurant for a good old-fashioned gossip sesh. And since this is your special day out, forgo the salad and order the decadent dish you really want.

Buy yourself a box of chocolates

Every busy mommy deserves a grown-up chocolate treat that she doesn’t have to share! So indulge your inner chocoholic with a bag of premium chocolates. We’re partial to new Lindt LINDOR caramel truffles.

See a movie… solo

When was the last time you saw a movie that didn’t feature little blue people who live in mushroom houses or have talking modes of transportation? Yes, those kids’ movies are great, but we invite you to go see a movie all by yourself so you don’t have to compromise on which flick to see or even what midmovie snack to get.

Take a day trip

If there is a place nearby that you’ve always wanted to tour, take yourself on a little day trip to go sightseeing in a neighboring quaint town or big city.

Get lost in a good book

If you’re like most busy moms, we’re pretty sure the most reading you’ve had time to do as of late is your kids’ bedtime stories or your Facebook news feed. We invite you to scour the best-seller shelves of your neighborhood bookstore for an interesting page-turner. Then find a shady spot under a big tree at a local park and get swept up in a heart-wrenching romance or mind-boggling mystery.
