New colors that are considered neutral

These non-traditional fall neutrals will carry you through the entire season in style.

Sure you know white and black as neutral colors, but did you ever think shades like navy and military green could now be considered achromatic, too? Well guess what? They can! Especially this fall.

Don’t believe us? Just check out the hues below that can be worn with any other color this season. Translation: They are the perfect new neutrals.

1

Navy

Remember that rule where you could never pair navy and black together? Break it! You totally can rock both colors. In fact, there’s nothing chicer. Try black skinny trousers and a black blouse for the office, and top it off with a sleek navy blazer. So posh!

Outfit idea

Premium Crepe Skinny Trousers (Topshop, $150), Jannick Top (Joie, $228), Blazer With Buttons (Zara, $100), Ninah Pumps (Banana Republic, $128)

2

Military green

We saw tons of military green storm down the runways for fall. And while this rugged color has never been considered neutral in the past, designers like 3.1 Phillip Lim and Proenza Schouler proved that the shade can absolutely be worn with just about every color in the spectrum. Pair a military green cargo jacket with a bright purple sweater and skinny jeans for a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Burgundy

There’s nothing more luscious than a burgundy — well — anything! Whether you’re wearing a burgundy sweater with blue printed denim, or a flouncy burgundy skirt with a crisp button-front shirt for the office, the color will always “go” and look great.

Raglan Jumper (Dorothy Perkins, $29), Toothpick Jeans (J. Crew, $80), Lucky Brand Emmie Flats (Heels.com, $60)
