These cute little cornucopias are easy, cheap and fun to make, and can be used for all sorts of holiday decorating. We used ours as placemats, but you can certainly use them as mantel decor or even fun little accents in your kitchen.
DIY mini cornucopias
Supplies:
- Scissors
- Ribbon or twine
- 1 yard of burlap
- Pen or pencil
- Sheet of regular paper (8-1/2 x 11 inches) for a template
Instructions:
Trace a template from paper
To make the cornucopias, trace a house shape (7-1/4″ wide by 5-1/4″) with a flat roof (see photo).
Cut out shapes in burlap
To cut the shapes out of the burlap, you can either trace the paper template into the burlap with a pen or hold down the template and cut around it. We chose to trace it so the lines were sharper, but it’s totally up to you.
Roll into cones
To roll the cones, start at the left-hand corner of the base of your shape. Then, pinching one side down, roll the burlap into a cone shape.
Using a hot-glue gun, place a dab of glue on the bottom edge of the cone to keep it together.
Tie together with twine
Using colored twine, ribbon or yarn, tie the cones in place.
Fill with nuts, leaves or other fun fall accessories!
