Finding the ideal makeup that accentuates your features and complexion can be no easy feat. But rest assured, the SheKnows gals have got you covered! We reworked five of the fall 2013 runway makeup trends so that any girl can rock them while on a budget.
Cat eyes
This season’s designers like Christian Dior, Lanvin, Anna Sui and Michael Kors all paired their catwalks with cat eyes — a trend that has been slowly working its way into mainstream makeup. Though it can be challenging to create two perfectly matching cat eyes, when done correctly, it can really open up your eyes and make them appear larger. We recommend Revlon’s ColorStay Liquid Liner in a shade of black-brown. Pure black can appear too harsh and heavy on your face, while black-brown is dark enough to get the job done. This item can be picked up at Target, WalMart or your local drugstore for around $5.
Wine-hued lips
Red lips have become a popular statement in the world of makeup today. However, designers like Vera Wang, Fendi and Derek Lam are taking it one step further. They all sent their fierce runway models strutting in dark, wine-colored lips this season. Want to get a tamer version of this look? We recommend CoverGirl’s Queen Collection in Regal Raspberry or Fine Wine. A small touch of these sexy shades can go a long way, so use them sparingly or reserve them for a night out on the town! Both are priced around $4 to $6 at your local drug store.
Orange shadow
We know it’s most women’s nightmare to dab on some colored eye shdow, only to end up looking like they’re in eighth grade, but designers including BCBG, Givenchy and Altuzarra all sent their ladies down the runway with shimmering orange hues across their lids. When done right, these orangey shades can bring warmth to the chilly fall season. That’s why we recommend E.L.F.’s Essential Flawless Eyeshadow set in Golden Goddess, available for $3. Don’t let the name fool you, these golden shades come with just the right tint of orange that will accentuate and not overwhelm your features.
Prune eyes
Max Mara, Gucci and Oscar de la Renta were some of the many designers who sent their girls out rocking purple shades this fall season. Again, we know how intimidating colors can be. We also know you likely haven’t dabbled in these bright palettes for years. To achieve a respectable look that still compliments your skin tone, we suggest a few calmer versions of purple, like Maybelline New York Eye Studio Color Explosion in Amethyst Ablaze at Target for $8.
Gray wash
Smoky bedroom eyes are a go-to for any girl’s night out. Designers like Alexander Wang, Derek Lam and John Galliano added interesting twists to this classic look by trading black tints for shades of gray. This allows the same subtle sexiness with less intimidation factor. It also opens up your face, instead of the darkness that tends to swallow your eyes with black shadows. For this look we suggest Maybelline’s Expert Wear Shadow Trio in Almond Satin, for $5, available at WalMart.
