Due to an “older” population, most restaurants in Florida offer very generous happy hour menus!
Take advantage of special hours for marked discounts and make happy hours extra-happy with these tips for where to visit in three cities in Florida.
Jacksonville
When in Jacksonville, where should you go to hit the happy hour spots? First, you have to try out the Chart House. They have a happy hour menu every day from 4:30 to 7 p.m. For $4, you can have their spinach artichoke dip. For $5, you could try their ahi nachos. For $6, they have prime rib sliders! (And this is just a sample of what’s available in each price point.) Their drink specials are equally impressive, with $6 mojitos, $6 martinis and a pretty cool wine selection for $4 by the glass!
Another spot is Millhouse Steak House. They have $1.99 drinks, all day, every day. That alone should get you in the door — but the excellent, consistent reviews of the service are what keeps people coming back!
At the Blue Fish, happy hour is 3 to 7 p.m., seven days a week, served at the bar and high-tops only. But once you get there, the selections are great: A shrimp taco is $2.75, while a mini pizza or seafood dip crostini is just $4. Their draft beers are $3, all mixed drinks (well drinks) are $4 and all well martinis, margaritas and mojitos are $5. A plentiful wine list at $4 a glass makes sitting at the bar or high-tops well worth it!
Miami
Area 31 is a trendy, fun spot to visit. Try their happy hour at the bar and terrace lounge only, and enjoy $5 premium well cocktails, beer specials, house red and white wine, as well as prosecco. Their $6 bar bites are available Monday and Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, 5 to 10 p.m.
The Grill on the Alley offers happy hour daily from 4 to 7 p.m. in their bar. Their small-plate prices range from $4 to $7, Chef Bites are $9 to $11, along with beverage offers of $2 off wine and other special prices.
Visit the Oceanaire Seafood Room in the downtown area for a great happy hour experience. It’s available Monday through Friday 4 to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday 9 p.m. to close and Sunday from 8 p.m. to close in the bar and patio areas only. One of the $5 selections will get you a good-sized order of fish and chips; for $6 you can try their red chili calamari, while the first option on their $7 selection is mini filet mignon sliders. They offer $4 bottled beers, $5 wines by the glass, $6 specialty drinks and $7 specialty martinis.
Tampa
When in Tampa, you have to check out Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant. Their happy hour is Monday through Friday 5 to 7 p.m., with $3 wells, beer and wine; $4 calls and $4 tapas menu. Their sangria is very good, and the various tapas will keep you happy.
Another fun spot is Carmel Cafe. When you visit Carmel from 4 to 7 p.m., they offer four wines, four sharable plates and four drinks for $4. The prices are quite reasonable for such a hip place, where you order from an iPad!
Kona Grill offers a Monday-through-Friday from 3 p.m. until close in their bar; Saturday and Sunday are all-day happy hours! From $3.50 beers to $6.50 martinis, half-off rolls, flatbreads and potstickers, as well as other sushi options around $6, this is a definite must-try on your list!
