Marbled nail design with polka dots

There’s nothing more fun than creating a marbled manicure — every design is unique and you can add as many colors as you’d like. Now, with added dots, the design gets twice as fun!

Supplies:

  • Jar or cup full of water, tape
  • Dotting tool, toothpicks
  • Orly’s La Vida Loca
  • Orly’s White Tips
  • Essie’s After School Boy Blazer
  • Zoya’s Valerie

Instructions:

1

Base

Start with a white base coat and let dry.

2

Protect

Place tape around your nail to protect it from getting excess nail polish on it. (You can skip this step if you want to remove extra polish with a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover.)

3

Marble

Dip a drop of nail polish on the surface of the water. Keep the brush close to the water so the polish doesn’t sink. Follow with alternating drops of the different colors, repeating as you like. Take a toothpick and swirl the colors together.

4

Dip

Decide which part of the swirl design you want on your nail and then dip it horizontally into the water. Take it out in a spot that doesn’t have polish so it doesn’t ruin the design. Repeat for all the nails, doing a different marbling design for each nail. Take off the tape and clean up any excess polish.

5

Dot

Using your dotting tool, do a line of dots following a swirl design in your nail. Try doing pink dots on a blue part, and blue dots on a pink part. Let the nails dry fully and then finish with a top coat.
