A black and white stripe is a classic print for any time of the year. Make it more glam for the holidays with sequins.
Materials
- Striped sweater
- Fabric glue
- Sequin trim
- Needle and thread
- Scissors
- Plastic bag or piece of cardboard
Plan
Lay out your sweater and decide where you want the sequin stripes to be. You can alternate them over the original stripes as shown here, or you can do all the stripes on the front, a sequin stripe right underneath a stripe… let your creativity take over! This will also help to decide what width you want your sequin trim to be.
Glue
Place a plastic bag or piece of cardboard inside the sweater so glue doesn’t seep through to the other side. Working a few inches at a time, spread some fabric glue over the area you’re placing the trim. Lightly press down and then continue down the line. Cut off the end with the scissors and begin a new line.
Sew (Optional)
Let your sweater fully dry. Then, with the needle and thread, sew the sequin trim down in a few places here and there for extra security. Now it’s ready to wear!
