Every holiday season, one of my favorite things to do is drive around looking at Christmas light displays. Hot cocoa in hand, Christmas music playing in the background and twinkling lights signify the start of the Christmas season. What’s not to like?! This year, we scoped out the best light displays in the U.S. Though you won’t be able to see them all in person, the photos themselves portray true winter wonderlands.
Koziar’s Christmas Village, Bernville
Set in a valley on a lake in Bernville, Pennsylvania, Koziar’s Christmas Village features half a million Christmas lights. New this year is an outdoor, one-of-a-kind train display. Christmas will never be the same after seeing Koziar’s Christmas Village!
Simmons Family’s Dancing Christmas Lights Show, Cathedral City
Named “Best Christmas Lights Display in America” by The Early Show on CBS, Simmons Family’s Dancing Christmas Lights Show has over 200,000 LED lights, a 24-foot tall Christmas tree, shooting stars and more! The show is synchronized to holiday music, making it look as though the lights are dancing to your favorite holiday tunes.
Hyatt Extreme Christmas, Ft. Lauderdale
Mark and Kathy Hyatt have been decorating their home in Ft. Lauderdale since 1990, and each year it continues to exceed the last! There’s a Ferris wheel, Santa’s Workshop and over 200,000 lights — making Hyatt Extreme Christmas a holiday must-see.
Celebration in the Oaks, New Orleans
Celebration in the Oaks is one of the nation’s biggest and best holiday-lights festivals. It sits on 13 acres in New Orleans’ City Park and draws in more than 165,000 visitors each year. Ride the carousel or take a two-mile train ride through the glittering displays — or make it a tradition to do both!
Kansas City Plaza Lights, Kansas City
Located on Country Club Plaza, Kansas City Plaza Lights is a tradition that’s been going on for more than 80 years. It features 15 blocks of thousands of glimmering lights adorning each Spanish-inspired building. Walk around and look at the sites, or take a carriage ride through the plaza!
