With popularity that has outlasted 2012 and 2013, chevron is no longer a trendy pattern but a timeless design that everyone yearns for in their home. Though it was once referred to as a feminine pattern, newer chevron pieces have proven that this trend works for men as well.
In a recent interview with SheKnows, Home editor Kelli Uhrich asked designer Jonathan Scott for his male take on the chevron trend. Stating that he believes the trend is here to stay, Scott believes that chevron is a great way to make a statement. Because it is a bold design, he mentions that in order for the design to work appropriately, it has to be the right fit. “You don’t want anything too overboard or shocking on the eye… It has to blend in.”
Understanding that every homeowner has their own likes and dislikes, Jonathan Scott says that he is a very collaborative designer. Though he pulls people out of their comfort zones, he still likes to use chevron designs that are more calming and subdued. Looking for settling patterns that are easier on the eyes, Scott uses the trend as a means to deliver something that homeowners would have never thought of as their own style before.
Interested in gender-neutral chevron pieces for your home? Look for something that will blend into your decor, but isn’t too loud. It doesn’t have to be just a white and bold-color zigzag print — it can also be a piece that has a softer take on the pattern. Find accents that blend neutral colors into the arrangement or a subtle outline of the design to tone it down a bit. And regardless of what you choose, remember that you want something that is personal and you will feel secure with in your home decor.
Here are some of our favorite chevron pieces available that will help you bring in the trend without leaving your comfort zone.
