Make a statement with your next mani with a gorgeous metallic hue. From gold to silver to metallic with glitter, we’re sharing some of our current go-to hues.
Bet on bronze
While we would normally say “go for the gold,” this gorgeous shade of bronze would be just as regal as any Midas touch. The Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer comes in 30 shades but we’ll be sporting “dirty bronze” this season (Sephora, $22).
Ultra-sparkle
We’re in love with metallic shades of polish that also offer mega sparkle. “Set in stones” by Essie boasts a silver sheen, along with a serious dose of bling (Beauty.com, $9).
Holographic gold
Maybelline Color Show Holographic Nail Lacquer in “bold gold” does double duty. Not only does it offer a mani-worthy metallic sheen, it contains color-morphing metallic pearls so colors shift as they catch the light (Drugstore.com, $4).
Subtle silver
Metallic polish doesn’t always need to steal the show. Sometimes subtle shades are just as stylish. That’s why we love Deborah Lippmann Metallic Nail Lacquer in “believe” which makes a statement without going over the top (ULTA, $17).
All that glitters
Give your holiday look a splash of extra sparkle with the help of Bobbi Brown Glitter Nail Polish in “chrome,” a golden hue with just enough glitter to get noticed (Barneys New York, $18).
Nod to navy
At first glance this navy nail polish by Butter London doesn’t look metallic, but once it’s applied the elegant shade of “big smoke” offers a subtle yet noticeable metallic sheen we love (Butter London, $15).
Iridescence
If you’re looking for something a little different to do when it comes to your nails, we suggest giving Sally Hansen’s Lustre Shine Nail Color (we like “scarab”), which is infused with real silver. The effect is iridescent and totally luminous (Drugstore.com, $8).
Go green
When we think of metallic hues, gold, silver and bronze come to mind, but there’s more to metallic than meets the eye. Case in point: Estee Lauder Pure Nail Lacquer The Metallics Collection in “metallic green,” a sophisticated shade perfect for any occasion (Macy’s, $20).
Solid gold
When it comes to metallic nails, sometimes you just want to stick with the classics. You can do that with Essie’s “good as gold,” a straight up version of gold polish (Nordstrom, $9).
Purple shimmer
Make a move away from basic hues and instead opt for something that really gets noticed. We love Urban Decay Nail Color in “vice,” a deep purple with some red and blue micro-shimmer that gives the polish an on-trend metallic sheen (Sephora, $15).
Triple threat
Since three polishes are better than one, we suggest picking up a set of three gorgeous metallic shades from Strange Beautiful Nail Polish (Anthropologie, $18). Choose from the gold palette (our pick) or the green (also pretty).
3-D effect
Make sure your nails are really the stars of the show with the help of Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color that creates a 3-D nail art effect (ULTA, $5). Magnetic particles create a metallic-hued pattern on your nails for a unique holiday-ready mani. Choose from four shades but we love hot pink “red-y response”.
Chic crystals
We love this fast-drying formula by Anna Sui packed with metallic sparkle. Our current go-to shade is “crystal beige,” an understated yet party-ready shade that goes with anything (Beauty.com, $15).
So silver
A simple silver polish, without any extras like glitter or sparkle, can still make a statement. We love Urban Outfitters UO Basics Collection Nail Polish in “runaway,” a rich, high-shine shade of silver (Urban Outfitters, $5).
Glam gift set
Whether for yourself or someone you love, this set of four metallic nail polish shades is perfect for the indecisive beauty buff, or the gal who likes to change things up on a dime. The Le Metier de Beaute Merry Metallics Nail Set features four fabulous shades (Neiman Marcus, $32).
