If you’re feeling the urge to create something quick and easy (about 10 minutes), how about taking a plain and simple cutting board and making it extra special? Just grab any size cutting board and whip this little project up.
Crafting for cutting
Supplies:
- Cutting board
- Acrylic craft paint
- Paintbrush
- Clear spray sealant
- Extra-fine sandpaper
Directions:
Start with a small piece of painters tape and mark off a portion of your board. For food safety, keep the painted portion limited to the top of the board where you won’t be doing any chopping.
Paint the top portion of your cutting board with acrylic craft paint in the color of your choice. To paint both the front and back without waiting for each side to dry, hang it off the end of a table and weight the table side down so it won’t tip off.
If you need another coat, go for it. After the paint dries, spray it with clear sealant before removing tape.
When completely dry, carefully remove the tape. Sand lightly to smooth the finish and give the cutting-board portion a light sanding as well to make sure there is no overspray of the sealant.
