Everyday inspiration: Eat lunch outside

It’s easy to go an entire day without stopping for a breath of fresh air. Why not take a break and soak up the sun while enjoying a meal outside?

Challenge: Eat lunch outside

Why? Sunlight helps your body create and activate Vitamin D. Enjoying a meal under the sun is also a natural way to boost your mood and improve your post-lunch concentration.

Our ladies react:

Megan: “Do one thing each day that inspires you.” It seems simple, but it’s difficult. We get distracted. The sad thing is, for us to be the best versions of ourselves, we need everyday inspiration. Today, my inspiration came from getting outside. Winter was long this year. It was time to let my skin and my spirit soak up some sunshine and indulge in a long lunch overlooking the lake. Science has proven that people who are exposed to the outdoors and sunlight are happier. So, throw on some SPF, grab those shades and celebrate spring on the patio.

Nora: It seems so easy to power through the lunch hour at my desk, taking bites of food over my computer. Unfortunately, my productivity levels go down and I never seem to recharge for the rest of the day. Taking a break from work to eat lunch outside had surprising benefits. The fresh air must have boosted my brainpower because I came back to work with new ideas and a much better concentration. I ate my food much more mindfully, taking my time instead of shoveling it in my mouth in front of a computer screen. I appreciated the beauty of nature, and felt very grateful to live in such a beautiful place.

Margaret: Taking my lunch outdoors was very out-of-the-box for me even as a WAHM. When I did, it became more than just getting some fresh air on my back patio. It was a break that I didn’t even know I needed. I took my time eating, tasting my food instead of instead of wolfing it down in front of the TV or laptop. After I was done eating, I stayed outside for a while longer, enjoying the peace and quiet while gazing out into my awesome backyard.
