Black and white horizontal stripes don’t have to mean jailbird…
t
t The first thing that comes to mind when you think about black and white horizontal stripes is probably either the Hamburglar or a jail suit. I was right there with you until I saw this super cute, non-jailesque skirt at Target! I love a bargain, and Target has done really well with their marketing, because I get sucked into the clothing section every time I run in for household items.
t Typically you won’t find many skirts in my closet. However, that has not been the case this season! It must be the trending A-line shape — it’s one of the few fun and flirty styles that is flattering on us girls with curves.
The outfit
t Nine times out of ten, I pick one article of clothing as my focal point and style my outfit around that piece. In this case, it was the skirt. Our desert winters are quite warm, so I paired the skirt with opaque tights, a light cotton long sleeve top, tall black boots and then added my new favorite chunky gold necklace for contrast. I grabbed my candy pink Kate Spade handbag for a pop of color, and threw on this beautiful black pea coat by Betsey Johnson when the sun went down.
Where to wear it
t An outfit like this is the perfect balance of casual, comfy and effortless, yet chic. Wear it to a girls’ night out for wine and champagne, date night with your man, or any function that calls for something a little dressier than jeans. This was so comfortable that I even ran a few errands!
