6 Powerful activism campaigns inspired by the Ice Bucket Challenge

The Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS has gone outrageously viral. By now you have probably seen or participated in this challenge on your Facebook feed. The good news is that the Ice Bucket Challenge is working — it has greatly exceeded expectations. Challengers are now using the ice bucket as a platform to promote new causes.

According to the ALS Association, the Ice Bucket Challenge has raked in more than $100 million in global donations. This fundraising is outstanding compared to the $2.8 million raised for ALS in the same time frame last year. If you’ve donated or participated, then you deserve a pat on the back.

But some argue that you can have too much of a good thing. Ice Bucket Challenge videos have flooded social media. Everyone and their mom, including celebrities, are doing it. It was only a matter of time before people got sick of the challenge and tried to put their own spin on it.
